Cairnhill 16 is a boutique freehold residence in Singapore's Orchard / Cairnhill enclave. Its arrival sequence is defined by a striking grey granite feature wall: a modular grid of stone blocks set at varying depths so the surface reads as a three-dimensional relief, with polished stainless-steel mirror inserts catching the light and the surrounding greenery. Sun Young Stone supplied the grey granite for this wall as it wraps the entrance lobby, the vehicular drop-off and the carpark facade.
The stone we supplied
We provided a consistent, fine-grained grey granite chosen for its even tone and durability in Singapore's tropical, high-rainfall climate. Each block was sized and finished to allow the projecting / recessed relief pattern to be built accurately on site, and the exposed faces were given a uniform sawn-and-flamed texture so the whole wall stays tonally matched across thousands of individual pieces. The decorative metallic accents are polished stainless steel set between the stone courses.
Quality control before shipment
A feature wall built from many small modular blocks only works if every piece is consistent. Before shipping to Singapore, our team gauged each block for size and thickness, checked colour and tone batch-by-batch, verified the face finish and numbered the pieces for the relief layout.
