What a Dry Lay Inspection Involves

Dry laying is the most reliable way to guarantee that what we ship is exactly what gets installed. It is a standard step on every Sun Young Stone order.

Full Dry Assembly

Every order is laid out tile-by-tile on the factory floor, exactly as it will appear once installed on site.

Color & Vein Matching

Slabs are checked for consistent color and book-matched veining, then numbered to preserve pattern flow.

Dimension & Fit Check

Joints, cut-outs and edge profiles are measured against the approved shop drawings to catch any deviation.

Approve, Then Crate

Only after the dry lay passes inspection is the stone numbered, photographed and crated for export.

Inspection Tests

Every Slab Passes Three Core Checks

Before any order is dry-laid and crated, each slab is put through hands-on flatness, dimension and sealer testing on the factory floor.

Flatness

A straightedge and spirit level are run across the surface of every slab to confirm it sits perfectly flat, with no warping, lipping or hollows that would show up once installed.

Dimension Check

Length, width, diagonal squareness and thickness are measured against the approved specification with a steel square and tape, so every piece matches the tolerance on the drawing.

Sealer Test

Water is applied to the finished, sealed surface to verify it beads up instead of soaking in — proof the protective sealer is performing and the stone will resist staining and weathering.
